Dale Wm. Fedorchuk, Q.C., has provided legal services to clients in Alberta since 2001 and Manitoba since 1984. Throughout his career, he has litigated criminal and civil cases in the Provincial Court, the Court of Queen's Bench, and the Court of Appeal in both Alberta and Manitoba. He has also litigated cases in the Supreme Court of Canada. Dale is pleased to offer criminal and civil litigation services to clients in Banff, Canmore, Cochrane, Okotoks, Airdrie and Calgary, as well as servicing other communities in Alberta and Manitoba.
Dale was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1984 and practiced litigation in Winnipeg until May 2001, where he was a partner at a well-known firm for 11 years. He moved to Calgary in May 2001, and was called to the Alberta Bar in July 2001. Dale now practices law from his own firm in Canmore, Alberta.
On February 24, 2010, Dale was granted the honour of designation as a Queen's Counsel at a combined sitting of the Provincial Court of Alberta, the Court of Queen's Bench, and the Court of Appeal in Calgary. To explain what the designation means, here is a quote from the Honourable Alison Redford, Q.C., Minister of Justice for the Province of Alberta, on March 25, 2009:
Every two years it is tradition in the province of Alberta to have the Lieutenant Governor in Council appoint lawyers as Her Majesty’s Counsel learned in the law – Queen’s Counsel. The historical significance of the post of Queen’s Counsel should not be understated. This tradition dates back to the 16th century and in Canada predates Confederation. In Alberta we carry on this tradition to recognize the accomplishment and contribution lawyers have made to the legal professional, their community and those they serve. Confidence in the justice system is fundamental to the strength of our communities and as members of the Bar we all have a responsibility to ensure that access to justice and justice itself are highly regarded by our communities. Community service and leadership in the profession and the community in which we live is a key component of what it means to be a member of the legal profession. Commitment to the well being of the wider community in which lawyers live and work is an important component in defining our responsibility as members of the Bar.
Dale is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Law Society of Manitoba, as well as a past member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Association of Civil Trial Lawyers of Alberta and the Canadian Bar Association. He has been active in the Manitoba Bar Association, where he has chaired the Civil Litigation Section, the Manitoba Working Group for the CBA Systems of Justice Task Force, the 1998 Midwinter Planning Committee, and the Law Day Committee. While Chair of the Manitoba Civil Litigation Section, Dale coordinated law reform efforts to introduce expedited action rules for non-complex litigation. Dale has lectured for the Law Society of Manitoba in Continuing Legal Education seminars and to Bar Admission students on the expedited action rules. He was also active with the Canadian Bar Association, having served as Chair of the National Civil Litigation Section, as well as serving 5 years on the Executive.
In addition to his legal activities, Dale has taught First Aid for the Red Cross, has trained Rescue (SCUBA) Divers, and loves to golf, ride horses and white water raft. He is a Christian and sings with the Choir at Centre Street Church in Calgary, Alberta. Dale and his wife, Anika, live in Canmore, Alberta.
